It's a Boy!

The Husband and I arrived at the Humane Society for our noon appointment Friday. We were greeted at the door by Allison who was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about all the cats at the shelter. I had spoken with her on the phone the day before, so she knew a little bit about what we were hoping to find in a new feline family member.

She ushered us over to a wall of cat cages and began to describe several of her furry clients that she thought might be a good fit. While she spoke, a black and white tuxedo walked to the front of his cage, sat down, and made pointed eye contact with The Husband. As soon as The Husband met his gaze, this cat meowed AT The Husband.
Allison continued to talk about her top choices. The Husband and this tuxedo continued to communicate silently. I apologized to Allison, "I'm sorry, but this guy is talking and I think we need to see what he has to say."

Long story short, that tuxedo cat made his choice, and we were it. By the end of the day, he was sprawled out on one of our couches like he owned the place. Because he does.

Yeah, they let us take him home right away. We had to make an emergency stop on the way home to buy litter, a box, and some food because we had not planned for such a quick turn around and there was no chance we were going to wait another moment to have him.

The humane society advised us to keep him isolated to a room for two weeks so he'd have time to acclimate. Pfft! We let him have run of the house the next morning.

Yup. I sure wish this guy could acclimate.
