"What should I be doing now?"
In this dream, I meet Steven Spielberg.
This is significant, because in real life, my life desire used to be to work with Mr. Spielberg. I wanted to be his #1 camera operator. I wanted to be his right hand.
In this dream, I learn that Mr. Spielberg has an office inside the corporate office where I currently work. And in this dream, I'm sitting at a conference table with Mr. Spielberg and one of his associates. They like me. They want to find out how I can fit into their operations. They ask me lots of questions that I have answers to, but either the questions are not relevant or my answers are not strong. I realize I am failing this interview, and they are rapidly losing interest in me.
I have a yellow legal pad in front of me, and on it I scrawl the one question I could ask that will save me. "What should I be doing now to be able to work with you later?"
This question shows that I am willing to learn and grow and be whatever they need me to be. It is the right thing to ask, and I wait for the opportunity to ask it.
Of course, that opportunity never comes. Other people enter the room, and my time with Mr. Spielberg is over.
This would be a sad dream, except that as I leave Mr. Spielberg's office, I make a mental note of where his office is. Because I know someday I will come back here, and when I do, I will be better prepared.
