Touched

You guys.
Sometimes if I wasn't a witness to my own life, I would accuse myself of making stuff up just to have really cool things to blog about.
This is another one of those times.

There was a phone call at work today.
The man was trying to track down a woman who had written a blog post a couple years ago about things you should and shouldn't say and do when someone dies.
Does this sound familiar to you?  It should.

He was looking for me.
He asked for me by name.
Because he wanted to quote me in a grief counseling pamphlet he was writing.

But here's the kicker:
He didn't read my blog post here.
He stumbled across it on another website where someone else had shared it.

I'm stunned.
Well, I know you guys appreciate stuff I write.  You hang around patiently waiting for something good to come out once in a while.  You're here.  I already know you'll like most of what I post.
You're an easy audience.

But this...
There's this audience out there that doesn't know me from Adam.  Someone (maybe one of you, maybe a stray Googler) tossed a sample out in the middle of that audience, and someone out there liked it.  Without knowing me first.

That's pretty cool.

He explained what he wanted to do and why he was writing the pamphlet.  I was simply touched that he found some value in what I had written.  As we said our goodbyes, I tried to thank him for the call.  Tried to tell him how very important his words to me were.  But I choked on the emotion and could barely speak.
He became choked up as well and insisted the honor was his.
