A flatter bladder *updated*
Well kids, I gave it the old college try.
I tried, with a radical diet change, to "clean out" my non-working gall bladder.
I tried for a good year after the test that proved my gall bladder not only did not contract when it was supposed to, but also expanded... which gall bladders are so very NOT supposed to do. (My doctor, upon hearing this from the lab tech, demanded to see the test with his own eyes because he had never heard of such a thing.)
But, I have quit.
After my colonoscopy in November, learning that my digestion issues were not caused by colon cancer (yay!), I looked at my gall bladder (figuratively, of course) and said, "Dude, we're done here. You really suck, and I want you gone."
Today is that day.
Yes, I am nervous about the surgery.
The same way I am nervous about flying.
The same way you are nervous about... oh, say... speaking in public. You're pretty sure it's not going to kill you, but it sure feels like it's going to.
I'm that kind of nervous.
By the time you read this, I'll be under a doctor's care.
Coincidently, it's the same doctor who did my colonoscopy just a few months back. ("So, we meet again!" I said to her at our pre-surgery consult.)
Gimmee a couple days to sleep (glorious sleep!) and slowly manage to sit up using abdominal muscles that have been "stabbed four times", as the doctor likes to put it.
And I'll check in with you then.

The Husband has pointed out to me that today is Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday which makes tomorrow Ash Wednesday.
That's right, folks. I'm giving up my gall bladder for Lent.
::rim shot::
***UPDATE***
I was rolled into the OR at 10:30am, and I was home resting in my own bed by 3:30pm.
The doctor told The Husband that mine was a "very boring" surgery. Nothing interesting about it at all. Which is a good thing.
Two weeks to sleep and watch TV and nap and crochet and sleep and surf the 'net and rest.
