Nice. Beautiful.
This morning with Elder Son...
He: You look nice today.
Me: Really? Thank you.
This evening with Elder Son...
He: Those flowers are beautiful, mother. Just like you.
Me: What's with you today? This morning you tell me I look nice, and now you say I'm beautiful. What do you want?
He: ...
Me: ... because you can have it!

saying one sweet thing can get thim LOTS of things: slack, forgiveness, a new computer game...
I used to be "sweet and charming mother" when he was little. Now I'm "working on being sweet and charming mother again" when he asked me to have dinner ready for him when he got home...I was headed to church and we would be like ships passing in the night.
How pathetic is it that I fryed bacon and scrambled eggs and had them in the fridge in microwave containers for him before I left?
Answer: Pretty Pathetic.
Pathetic, Christie? No, no, no...
In our house, that's a stroke of genius! :-)
Roses - That was truly a lovely memory to cherish. I used to ask the kids just what it was they wanted until the day one of them said, "Just you Mom. That's really all I want." There is not enough tissue in my house to remember THAT comment whenever ANY of the kids now compliment me in any way. I just say thank you and I love you.
Christie - THAT is NOT pathetic! Sometimes heartfelt actions are the loudest and most cherished of words.
