Babysitters
Not sure what triggered it, but I was thinking about how we had hired babysitters to entertain the boys during the summer when I first went back to work. The first couple of young adults were pretty decent, but as the boys grew older and the good kids from church went off to college, the pickin's got pretty slim.
This is what was going through my mind as I looked across the breakfast table this morning at Elder Son who is now two weeks away from his 17th birthday. I got up and gave him a hug.
"I'm sorry we stuck you with so many different babysitters in the summers when you were little," I said.
"What? Oh. Well... don't let it happen again."

I don't think I realized that our two older boys were so close in age. I knew they were the same grade, but your eldest is only 2 weeks older than mine. Hunh.
That explains why your stories sound so familiar...
;-)
I have to say, the day we didn't need sitters in the summer took so much stress out of my life. I was always so worried about it, although we had great ones. The minute my eldest turned 12 and my youngest was interested in drama camps... it made a huge difference.
