"Now? a warning?!?" - Death Becomes Her
Just sayin' folks...
I get enough politics/news/depression crap at work.
With the ugly recall election crap going on in Wisconsin now and a presidential election looming, I'm just gonna say I'm avoiding blogs that are more of the same.
I had to do this four years ago and lost a lot of blog friends.
But, I couldn't keep my own sanity by reading a steady diet of name-calling and finger pointing.
It wasn't even that I disagreed with people. I just could not stomach the anger.
So, do whatever you need/want to do.
It's a free country.
But, if you don't see me for a while, it's not personal. It's political.
Have fun!

Well Roses, be sure and avoid my pitiful joint. I'm as mad as all get-out.
I can't remember a time in my 51 years I've been so depressed about the future of our beloved America.
I've got kids, ya' know...
Truth is, my "venting" will do little, or NO good in the big scheme of things. But, if it keeps ME sane to air it, then it's worth it to me...and my fambly.
Heck, I spent about 20 minutes last night looking at a website that shows videos of animals slamming in to hedges, windows, and saran wrap.
Really.
It's a nice diversion from the reality of where we are. I enjoyed it.
I do not enjoy politics. I would much rather blog about chicken hats, 'tater chips, and College Footbaw! But, I believe that many do not understand that all that good stuff is only made possible because folks have fought the good fight before us.
I've got kids, ya' know...
I will point fingers at those that care nothing about my children. I will call them names. They will never read it, and they would not care even if they did. But, it is cathartic to the twisted soul such as I'm iz.
I certainly understand why you can not stomach the anger. It's hard for me to stomach it myself. Really. I thought to myself only a few minutes ago, "I will probably die, and go right straight to hell because I hate (name redacted)." Don't think that it doesn't haunt us all.
Some of us just have to let the haints out...it's our way of dealing with it. Failed as it may be, It. Must. Be. Did!
Come visit me. I rarely write about politics unless it has to do with a case I am on. Then I have to be very generic. I will keep writing about our singing and sending you to our vocal arts web site to hear us.
Take care!
Gotta admit, for the most part I'm avoiding the overt finger-pointing blogs right now. There's a level of immaturity in most of them that just has me wondering about the people doing the writing.
I'll stick to boring people about walking and my cats...
Hence the reason I've been blocking people on Facebook... and haven't turned the tv on in weeks.
I'm with Thumper, well, really with Max. Cat websites are always good for a laugh... and Pinterest.
BTW, you will not lose a blog friend (at least on this end) when it comes to me.
I know that political crap can alienate folks. Trust me, I do. (long stories) And, I also know that I've NEVER been in the media mix where you live. I've NEVER had to deal with some of the junk that you have over the last long while.
You've had a rough year. Or two. Or four.
I can not imagine in my imaginary mind what it is like to walk in your moccasins. I don't got the T-shirt on that one...
Andy: I'll pop in once in a while and check in on you. ;-)
And you know where to find me.
Deal!
I gave up on most all politics about 2 months after the last presidential election. I can't read it I don't want to write about it. Now I have sailing pics, walking pics, and a few random thoughts about computer security... LOL. I'm like you - there is nothing I can do about it, so I don't want to hear it or blog it. If that's a bad thing, then so be it.
I can't do the politics. I get too sick about it. I wasn't sure it was possible for me to feel more ill than I did four years ago, but I do. I can't put it on my blog because then that... makes it alive for me if that makes sense. I try to ignore it here, I can't ignore it if I give it life on my blog.
I agree 100%. Yes these are important topics I should care about and if someone has a well thought out reasoned argument for thier side it can even be interesting. Unfortunately almost no one can remain calm talking about these things, it gets petty and depressing.
I'd rather read something that makes me laugh or look at silly pictures of cats with engrish captions.
As a rule I avoid politics as well, too nasty and messy. And depressing.
I hear you. I get "shrill", my blood pressure goes up, I can hear my father rolling in his grave...I hate politics more and more and except for voting (so that I have the right to complain) I avoid it as if it were a fatal and contageous disease!
What Andy said.
That's one reason why I visit you -- chicken hats and toddler stories are soothing.
And, I mix my politics with dog photos. Dog photos make me happy.
I don't think Zelma is going to get all political anytime soon, so Zelmarific is safe!
Actually, though, I do have friends with kids under four who have them spouting slogans, and I don't know. I see where it's coming from, but just let them be kids.
