Anyone else notice a significant drop in your Sitemeter stats since around February/March?
Was that about the time Blogger brought Google Reader into the mix with "following"?
My theory is that folks are reading my posts on Blogger Dashboard or on Google Reader and not actually hitting my blog as much.
If not, then fewer people like me.
::sniff::
But only the really awesome people in the world visit me now.

I thought google analytics listed those kids of hits as google (organic). Am I wrong?
I follow you, and I guess could read your posts on the Dashboard, but I just use it to see who's updated.
And I didn't figure out how to even use stats until this summer... so basically I'm useless to you as a theory-prover. *hangs head in abject shame, hoping for a consolation-cookie*

I get hits from Blogger Home a LOT, but I assumed those were actual clicks to my site and not just a read on Dashboard.
But, I don't know. That's why I asked.
Quite possibly. I know my hit counter has taken a royal dive...I'm hoping it's because people are reading through Google Reader (I'm using it now, too) and not because I've lost that many readers...
I haven't checked my stats in ages. Maybe if I posted more...sigh. Get on my case, okay? :)
Is that what happened? I notice by the way that you used to have a "Follower" icon on my blog, but its vanished? Is it something I've said?
I noticed the same thing but I just thought people weren't finding me entertaining any more. I like your theory better.

Um, my stats are way UP! Now, this (obviously) hasn't been due to a major improvement in blogging...my numbers just jumped into the 300+/week range from nowhere.
I can't figure it out. Normally they only do that if I get some big-time linky love.
So, I'm confounded...in a different sort of way.
