Hard boiled eggs will cook faster if you put the eggs in the water while it’s boiling rather than boiling the water for ten minutes first and then thinking to add the eggs.
Perhaps I should go back to bed.

I have a similar problem. I have an electric kettle that I boil eggs in. I'll put in the eggs and water...then walk away and forget to turn the darn thing on!
Ironically, I was actually making eggs while reading this post....and sure enough, I had forgotten to turn the kettle on!
We're still eating left-overs from Easter...a bit "gamey," but don't require much concentration.
