What does it mean when my dryer sheets stick to the clothes they're supposed to be preventing static cling on?

Um, you know dryer sheets don't go in the washer, right?
I hate finding that errant dryer sheet poking out the top of my pants. And why is it always when I go to the bathroom after lunch at the office?
According to Martha Stewart (you either love or hate her), dryer sheets actually erode your clothes! I don't know how or why, and I don't particularly subscribe to any of her philosophies (oh, who am I kidding? I love her!)...but the thought of paying for anything that might "erode" my clothes, it's just too much!
And now we have proof: your anti~static sheets....actually stick!! Oy!!
