Perhaps the husband and I are working too many hours if the children are saying we take them to eat at McDonald's too often.

Yeah, when the kids start saying that, you need to cut it down to about 80 hours a week. :-P
Baw ha ha ha... You made me feel much better. My kids haven't complained but I can't stand McDs right now we have eaten at it so often in the last 2 weeks.
They want to go to Wendy's instead...
