"Closing the loop"

The morning after we, as a family, enjoyed the movie "Looper", we are eating donuts at the breakfast table. 
Younger Son is somewhat concerned that his donut is rather dry and crusty.
"Are these day-old donuts?" he wants to know.
"They are thirty-year-old donuts," I tell him.  "Sent from the future.  For us to destroy."
