Pity Posies?

The Husband was to attend a meeting at my office Monday morning.  As I'm still home on medical leave, I told him to tell everyone hello for me.

"Thank them for all the well wishes," I said.
"And all the cards and letters?"  (There have been none.)
"Yes!  And the flowers!"  (Ditto)

We both thought this was very funny.
Much later in the afternoon, a pot of pink tulips and a card "from all of us" was delivered to the house.

Should I feel bad?  Because I think I made them feel bad.

Naw, don't feel bad. Just bring a ton of cookies for everyone when you go back to work. It evens out.

Roses, I gotta be honest on this one. One of my co-workers was out for an entire month last year.

There aren't many of us in my job, so I was stretched from hither to yon, doing my job, and his...and dealing with my night job/family junk, etc. There wasn't much "Andy" left at the end of the day.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I made VERY little effort to let him know that I hoped for his quick recovery. I was stretched...at work/at home/etc.

It did not mean that I didn't care about the guy, or really would be glad when he was back at work.

It just went to the bottom of the list of a bazillion things to get done in a day.

Not proud of it.

Was glad when he recovered, and came back to work. But...(you knew there was a "but" coming), I think I really screwed up. When he came back to work, there was a resentment in his attitude that I picked up on. Oh, he never actually came out and asked, "Why didn't you check in on me very often?"

It has taken months for that resentment to fade, and for us to get back to the place where we work well together. I've never been in that spot myself, so I can only try to put myself there. I would hope that I'd blow it off.

And, most of all, I hope I don't ever have to find out!
