This is why I'll never be rich.

I will never make any money with my crocheting.
Is this a surprise to anyone besides me?

Oh, I've fantasized about getting a booth at the farmer's market where Younger Son juggles.  Load up all the things I've made from yarn I bought cheap from second-hand stores and sell them for a huge profit on the street corner while the boy performs right next to my tent...

But, I very much like giving away my crafts.
To people who appreciate them, that is.

Today, I offered a hat to a woman at work who had given me a wicker basket full of old yarn she inherited from someone.  Mismatched stuff she was never going to use.  Stuff *I* paired with stuff I already had and made something nice out of... with... it?

Anyway, since she gave me yarn, I wanted to give her something back.  I asked her what she thought of the pink hats I donated to United Way, and her face lit up.
"I really liked them!" she said.
"I have a tan one just like it, same yarn and everything.  And it's got a little brown leaf pin on it."  (A pin I bought for a dollar at the hospital charity store.)
"I'd love that!"
"It's yours."

::shrug::

Makes me just as happy (if not more) than if I'd sold it for $10 at the farmer's market.
I just can't wait to give it to her today.

You made someone happy, that's way better than being rich.
