He: I lost two good pens last week. This morning at the staff meeting, I noticed Co-Worker X had one of them. And Co-Worker Y had the other one.

The solution of course, is to have very distinctive pens - ones that you can tell at a glance have been pilfered. My pens have purple ink - If I see purple writing come across my desk and I didn't write it, I KNOW someone has been "borrowing".
Start guarding the good stuff and leaving the cheap pens out for the thieves to take!
My pens have feathers on them... or flashing lights for the holidays. Yep, they don't seem to disappear at all. ;-)
Try picking your nose with the end of the pen. Guaranteed nobody will touch it...
Yeah, see, these are all good suggestions...
However, (and this is just a guess on my female part) a pen with purple ink, feathers, flowers, and/or boogers would render a pen to be not what a man would consider a "good pen".
And if one has a good pen but never uses it for fear that it will get lost or stolen, what is the purpose of *having* a good pen?
I fear there is no real solution except to be a douce and say, "Hey, that's my pen!" and make a scene over what amounts to a $1 pen.
