The key to the mystery

Wondered why the lining in my winter coat kept tearing at the armpit.
It was never too tight.  No unnecessary stress at that seam.

Solved the mystery this year.
The day I put my coat on...
... with my car keys in my hand.

I did the equivelent of "keying" a car to the inside of my coat.
Rrrrrrip!

Noted.
Don't hold your keys in your hand when returning your library books to the drop box.
And don't hold your keys in your hand when putting on your coat.

Gosh.
I wonder what I'll learn in 2012?

If I may be so bold as to add one more...

DO NOT hold your keys in your hand while stepping on to an elevator. I work in a hospital, and I can not count the number of times that I have had to shut down an elevator, and descend beneath the building in the elevator shaft to retrieve keys that are dropped by visitors that fall in the crack between the elevator and the main floor.

Don't do it. Please. Especially if you visit my place of employment.

Dude!
If I fell in the crack between the elevator and the main floor, I'd probably drop my keys, too!
(You *did* say the visitors fell down there, right?)

::snorts and runs away with keys in her hand::
