2010

It's 2010.
How do you say it?

Do you call it "Two thousand ten"?

or

Do you call it "Twenty ten"?

I say "twenty-ten". I tried getting the phrase "two aught one aught" going but the goggled-eyed wtf stares got to be too much to bear.

Oh it's definitely twenty ten for me, but the others were always two thousand whatever.

Grammatically, it's twenty-ten. Think about it...No one said "one thousand nine hundred ninety nine." It was nineteen ninety nine. 2001 was, technically, twenty-aught-one, but that sounded too prissy so most of us just said "two thousand one." So *technically* it's twenty-ten.

Personally, I figure call it however it tumbles out of your mouth. The grammar police aren't gonna taze you for it...

I'm still closing out 'ought nine' so I'm not calling it anything at the moment.

Thumper: But the Grammar Police *do* taze broadcasters. They really do. Which is why I'm asking the question. It's looking like I'll be saying "twenty-ten" for the next eleven months.

Dr. Gno: But, how do you pronounce that? Two-zero-one-zero?

Duece oh ace naught

Why, what do YOU call it?

Priscilla kinda stole my thunder. I came back to say that I "pronounce" it 'twenty-10,' but when I write a check, I still call it 'two thousand nine.' Sigh...

I think most people will say twenty ten because it's shorter on syllables and quicker to say. I'm kind of lazy, so gonna say twenty ten. Unless I have a point to make about the year and want it drawn out. Then I'll say with emphasis, two thousand ten. (dramatic reverb)
