Peaceful Christmas Memories

A note from the husband's brother-in-law:

Merry Christmas to All!
This morning we listened on public radio to a musical telling of the 24-hour cease-fire between German and British forces during WWI. At noon we mentioned that to Daisy, a neighbor from down the hall, and she remembered it! "I was in first grade", she told us. She couldn't remember when she got married and moved to Detroit, but the memory of a little bit of "Peace on Earth" stuck with her for 94 years.
May your Christmas be as memorable.

Glad tidings to you.
Merry Christmas!

They even organised a football match in no man's land. My Great Grandfather was there and he wrote to my Great Grandmother about it, the letter is still kept in a drawer at my Father's house.

It's a wonderful story. I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas day.

I have not been surfing since just before Christmas so I have been trying to catch up.

I also wanted to mention that there were also stories of German and English soldiers singing Christmas carols and even exchanging small gifts of food, tobacco, alcohol in the trenches of the region of Ypres, Belgium in 1914.

I hope you and your family enjoy the holidays!
