Paranoid or brilliant?

Sleeping with your car key fob on your nightstand in the event you hear vandals lurking in your driveway so you can hit the "panic" button and freak them out.

Paranoid? or brilliant?

Knowing my luck I would hit the unlock button and just make it easier for them to make off with the car!!

You mean your hearing is acute enough to hear vandals lurking in your driveway?

Show off!

I got an email to say to do that! Unfortunately, our bedroom is in the basement and we can't hear anything nor would our car keys work through the concrete walls.

It wouldn't hurt for people that sleep on upper floors, right?

I used to have to sleep with it nearby just to turn the freaking alarm off when the wind would jostle the car too hard. If I thought I would hear someone messing with it, I would totally set it off and hope that they whizzed themselves...

St. Jude: You know, for the number of times I've set off the panic button not meaning to, I'd probably miss it when I *want* to hit it.

Andy: *I* wouldn't hear them, but the attack cat would, and he would wake me... or he'd hit the panic button for me.

Arwen: See, now if I'd have gotten that e-mail, I'd totally know it's just paranoid. Anything in an e-mail is nuts. (Not blogs thought. Blogs are total genius.)

Thumper: Yes, the whizzing would be a huge bonus.
I'd hate to have breaking wind set off my car alarm.

Speaking of breaking wind, where's Bob?

I think you're a total genius, but I won't do it, only because I can't hear a thing when I'm asleep. I'm still not sure if Z has been sleeping through the night most of her life, or I just sleep through crying really really well.

Wow, you missed me! My blog reading has suffered lately. No excuse -- just life.

BTW -- Honking the car horn to freak out would be thieves is brilliant. It pays to thing through how to react before the time comes.
