It's not you; it's me

Dear family,
All I wanted today was to be left alone.
I know this is a difficult concept for you, but you seem to "get" it when your dad has his head plugged into the damn laptop headset. So, I know you can do it.
It's not you, it's me. I just want to be left alone.

I do not want to play that game with you.
I do not want to play that other game either.
It is not the kind of game that is the problem; it is me. I do not want to play any game.
I just want to be left alone.

No, I do NOT want to look up LolCats every freakin' time I'm on the computer checking my e-mail. So quit asking.
Can I play just one friggin' game on the computer without you standing over my shoulder telling me how I should be playing it? I am not your voice-activated video game controller.
Seriously, it's not you; but it is my turn on the computer, and I just want to be left alone.

I am fine.
I don't need a pillow, more/less light, or a beverage.
I don't need a hug/kiss/you making sad, cow eyes at me everytime you walk by.
What I do need is to be left alone.

For the love of mike, you can all walk and talk. You can feed yourselves, dress yourselves, entertain yourselves. At this point, I don't give a flying fig that you seem incapable of cleaning up after yourselves. You don't need me for anything.
So, please, just leave me alone.

It's not you, it's me.
But, it's quickly becoming you.

I feel ya! & mine's not even old enough to talk.

Those are the days that make me schedulle a girl day and/or night out. Of coarse that means I have to leave the house which isn't always relaxing.

So in short I have no advice but I know what you're talking about.

What's that? You're singing my song?

It's not any better once the kids are gone. Then HE starts doing it, and that tube of BenGay is really tempting to slather on his nads...

I've been on both ends of that conundrum...either needing to be left alone or being needy and not wanting to be left alone.

Sometimes it's tough to balance that see~saw.

Yep...

I can SO relate.

Only... I can't even play a game on the computer.

If it doesn't involve being a wife, mother, assistant or housekeeper, I apparently have NO BUSINESS doing it.

Bless your heart...I can so relate. Except that I get...'why do you like that game? That's such a chick game.'...duh...Maybe because I am a chick????

Roses, my wife (mother of four) read this post last night and just laughed and laughed.

Only one kid still at home now...and sometimes she thinks she misses the old days.

Then she slaps herself and plays a computer game in peace.
