Midnight rocket science

I have learned that:

When your cat is stalking something in the hallway in the middle of the night...
And you are curious if it's only an ant or something bigger which you'll need to be concerned about...
If you pop on a flashlight to see what it is...
You ruin your cat's night vision, and he'll never catch whatever it was.
Neither will you.
Plus, you still won't know what it was.
