In need of a pedicure

The bottoms of my feet have the texture of Velcro.

I walk down the carpeted hallway, and there's the distinctive "ripping" sound everytime I pick up my feet.

I pull on a pair of jeans, and it sounds like someone's striking a match.

So, how come when I wear snow boots, my socks slide off?

Too funny... The same thing happens to me. I am in desperate need of a pedicure myself. :)

Hate when that happens... especially when they end up bunched around your instep.

Same here and nothing (not even pedicure seems to help). :(

OMG! I was actually going to ask in a post if I'm the only person who goes barefoot in their snow boots?!?!?!

I had to walk to the gas station this morning and never even thought about socks......

Thank you Roses, for letting me know I'm not alone.

Or maybe I should be frightened that we think so much alike!!

It's the inner fabric of the boots.

See, shoes have fabric with grain that flows towards the front; the pressure of your foot causes the velcro like skin on your feet to hook the material of your socks, and with the foward flowing grain of the shoes, it's like having thousands of tiny little hooks that grab your socks and hold them up.

Boots, however, have backwards flowing grain, which causes the velcro skin particles to allow the socks to slide off in the other direction like snot, because it can't grab the socks.

So there you have it. A 100% scientific explanation. And I'm not even drinking yet today.

Mother's Int., Teresa, and Tink: We're all walking around with a wad of sock in the toe of our boots, then?

Tammi: Apparently, you're way ahead of the rest of us. Problem solved!

Thumper: I am somewhat comforted by your well-reasoned and sober explanation. I think I'd feel much better, though, if you'd try to tell it after a few adult beverages. :D
