The New Couch

No food on the new couches has been the rule in our house since we got the new furniture... ehem, four years ago.

Earlier this week, the 12-year-old sat on the floor with a snack and asked, "How long is this couch going to be *new*?"

Without hesitation, the husband replied, "When your mother and I retire to a nursing home, and we give it to you."

"But before we do that," I explained, "we're gonna jump on it and sit on the arms."

The husband added, "And we're gonna spill milk on it, too."

(Oh, please! As if we'll be able to afford to retire after contributing so much money to the boys' Therapy Fund.)

You realize you committed to keeping that couch for a very long time, because now he's going to EXPECT it... ;)

Heh - you can imagine the fits I have been having when the *whole* house is new! Gah! I am certifiable...

Nothing new there, of course...

Richmond: If I had a new house, I'm not sure I'd let the children live in it. ;-)
