"You look so tiiired."

Dear well-meaning person;

The next time you see these dark circles under my eyes and you think there is something wrong, please for the love of all that is good on God's green Earth, do NOT tell me I look tired.

Because as loving and caring as you are feeling, believe it or not, your declaration to me that I look like crap will NOT be taken in the good spirit in which it was intended.

Yes, I KNOW I look tired.

If you think I LOOK tired, guess how I FEEL.

The only thing holding me together right now is the thin thread of hope that I do not look as crappy as I feel.

Please do not crush this little hope of mine.

And, come on, telling someone they look tired is ALWAYS bad... looking tired is NEVER a compliment.

It's like telling someone their new haircut is really bad.
They know it. Whaddaya expect them to do about it that they haven't already tried?

Really.

If you disagree, then watch my tired eyes the next time you tell me I'm tired.
Am I happier for your comment?
Less tired?

Or, do those tired eyes tear up?
My face droop just a little more?
I'm surly to you for the rest of the day?

If you MUST say something, try, "Hey, you need any help today?" or "Got a lot on your mind?"

If you tell me I look tired, you better be someone who is authorized to tell me I can take a sick day and go home, because that's all I'm going to be good for after you tell me how crummy I look.

Just thought I'd let you know that before you feel the need to ruin another day for me.

Thanks.

You need to tell them, "Well, I didn't feel like this until you showed up!!"

What DO people expect you to say when they tell you how tired you look?

Thank you?
So do you?
I got these bags on sale?

Hm. I may just have to start using that last one...
